Ishrak, the outgoing CEO of Medtronic (NYSE: MDT), was elected Intel Corp.’s Chairman of the Board at a Jan. 15 meetings, Intel announced today.CEO Omar Ishrak chairman of Intel’s board is replacing Andy Bryant, who has the chairman of Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) for the past seven years.
Bryant will remain on the board until the end of the year and had previously told the board that he did not intend to seek reelection.
“I have full confidence in CEO Ishrak leading the board, which is fortunate to have his expertise at leading an innovative, global company,” Bryant said in a statement.
Ishrak elected to the Intel board in March of 2017, has been Medtronic’s CEO since 2011. During his tenure, the medical device company has nearly doubled its annual revenue. It also moved its legal headquarters to Ireland when it acquired medical device company Covidien for almost $50 billion.

Omar S. Ishrak is a Bangladeshi-American business executive, serving as the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Medtronic. He was the CEO of Medtronic from June 2011 to April 2020. In January 2020, Intel named him Chairman of the Board.
