So far, Apple pays Google between 1 billion and 1.2 billion a year to use Google’s search engine on Apple devices. But the deal is likely to expire soon, with US law enforcement filing a no-confidence motion against Google. That will also a sign that Apple is now working for Apple’s search engine.
While it’s not clear what Apple’s search engine will look like, it’s almost clear that Apple and Google’s behaviors as primary search providers to make money from different devices may soon come under pressure from regulators.
however, Apple has been preparing to stay away from Google for a long time. According to GSM Arena, Apple is bringing its own web crawler Applebot, which first appeared in 2014. Apple is going to revive that now. Searching the home screen of iOS-14, they are going to launch their own website instead of Google, the media said.
Apple recently updated its Apple-Bot web crawler page. And it’s also a sign that shows Apple is now working for Apple’s search engine.
In July 2020 Apple released a significant update to its AppleBot support.
which is very similar to the additions Google provides to webmasters and SEOs. The changes showed they made to the AppleBot support page: –
1) Added ways to verify traffic from Apple-Bot.
2) Details including the differences between the desktop and mobile versions are given.
3) Robots text rules have been extended.
4) Adding a section states that they not only crawl HTML but also provide pages like Google.
5) A section has been added to the search rankings and there are also descriptions of how it ranks web search results.
Applebot is shown in site crawling
Apple-bot was crawling my sites regularly, checking the WP engine and my server logs. That’s something I haven’t noticed yet.
Apple recently updated its search engine visibilityà Overview:-
Apple may value privacy. Because of Tim Cook’s open letter to buyers, our business model is very straightforward. We sell a lot of large-size products. But we do not create a profile database based on buyers ‘e-mails to monitor buyers’ interests. WE don’t look at the information stored in the storage of the iPhone or iCloud. We don’t read buyers’ e-mails or messages.
Last but not least
However, the news media is quite skeptical about how Apple will be a successful search engine without creating such a profile database of buyers. Because so far it is possible to bring a successful search result by analyzing the browsing style of the buyers and the information they have stored.
