Apple announced today that Barbara Whye is going to join with us as the vice president and head of inclusion and diversity. Barbara Whye is currently working as the similar position at Intel, and she will join Apple in 2021.
Reported by Fortune, listed as the Most Powerful Women this year. She joined Intel in 1995 as an engineer, where she has been involved in many roles in the company, such as engineering projects to start new Intel facilities around the world.
Apple confirmed that Barbara Whye will now work at Apple as vice president of inclusion and diversity beginning in 2021 after she will leave her position at Intel.
she will now bring her immense talents and deep experience to Apple, expanding corporate and global effort to recruit, develop and retain the world-class talent, at all levels, that reflects the communities we serve.
Apple was searching for this position as one great leader for its inclusion and diversity team since Christie Smith left the company in June.
As Fortune, Apple is known for going to a public stand on political causes as they did earlier this year as George Floyd was killed by a police officer.
Apple CEO Tim Cook donated $100 million to establish and develop its administration for racial justice, and actions should become like this even more frequent with Barbara Whye there in the future.
At Apple, Whye will report directly to Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s current Senior Vice President of retail and people.
